In 2005, St. Agnes HealthCare launched Red Dress Sunday, a city-wide initiative designed to educate women in the Baltimore community about heart disease and prevention. Women were invited to attend religious services and wear red to express their understanding of the devastating effects of heart disease. More than 1,000 women participated in the first Red Dress Sunday along with city, state and national elected leaders. Three years later, over 50,000 women turned out in red for Red Dress Sunday. Building on the success of Red Dress Sunday, St. Agnes HealthCare has launched A Sister’s Heart, a broader initiative that brings attention to the issue of heart disease while also offering community-wide education programs, seminars and health screenings.
