the number one killer of African American women, according to the American Heart Association.

OUR FIRST ANNUAL SISTERS WITH HEART AWARD:

Calling all women who have made extraordinary contributions in bringing healthcare solutions and
resources to their communities! From organizing educational outreach programs to arranging health walks and
community health fairs, women throughout Maryland have helped make health a priority for other women. Now we would like to recognize these women with our first annual Sisters with Heart award.

If you know someone in your community who is a Sister with Heart, please download the nomination form by clicking here.
The Sisters with Heart award is part of A Sister’s Heart, a community outreach initiative of St. Agnes Hospital.

After downloading the form, please complete the questionaire and submit it by November 1 , 2008 to:

At our class you will learn about living well with Congestive Heart Failure. This class is only for people with Congestive Heart Failure and their families.

HeartCare Program
Our Heart Care program is geared for people who need lipid management.

Cholesterol Control - The Lipid Management Program
Our program is a complete cadiovascular risk evaluation and work with a cardiologist, nurse educator, dietician and exercise specialist to improve your cholesterol levels and reduce your risk of heart disease.

RED DRESS SUNDAY

St. Agnes' annual Red Dress Sunday is held on the Sunday before Valentine's Day every February during American Heart Month. Women participating in Red Dress Sunday are encouraged to wear red to Sunday services and churches are encouraged to educate parishoners about the risk factors of heart disease and to provide them with educational materials on maintaining a heart healthy lifestyle.

Expanding on the success of Red Dress Sunday throughout the Baltimore metro area, St. Agnes Hospital, along with Providence Hospital, will host the first Red Dress Sunday in Prince George's County on Sunday, February 17. Following tradition, women participating in Red Dress Sunday are encouraged to wear red to Sunday services and churches are encouraged to educate parishoners about the risk factors of heart disease and to provide them with educational materials on maintaining a heart healthy lifestyle.
